Random Chair

I found this chair in the garbage. I think you could tell--right?
Besides the shredded fabric, it was a little wobbly. To fix that, I jammed a popsicle stick between the leg and the base of the chair from underneath. Once I got it in far enough to stop the wobble, I broke it off--you can't even see it.

I always have some fabric scraps laying around that I pick up at garage sales for cheap and I had this awesome ticking fabric that was heavy weight. I matched the paint color to it and this is what I came up with:
I couldn't believe I knew the fabric was called ticking. The word came into my head and I Googled it to make sure I was right. I guess some of the 1,795,048,631 things my mom told me in my life actually stuck in my head!
She would be proud.

    1. Thank you! I love ticking too! I used the other piece of that fabric as the back of a pillow cover--the other side is a grain sack that had blue writing.

  4. Love your chair makeover. I have a thing for chairs and will pull any chair out of the garbage that I see. So rewarding to save a chair and then turn it into something great.
    Nice job!

    1. Thank you! I will pull anything out of the garbage if I can paint it. Trash day is one of my favorite days of the week (after garage sale day and flea market day, and of course auction day)!!

    1. Thank you! Yes, it really was not in bad condition. I feel bad it was getting thrown out for just the ripped fabric. But I was happy I found it!

    1. Thank you! Hey, you never know until you try. What can you lose on something you pull out of the trash? And I just saw info on new Krylon spray paints that are paint and primer in one so no prep--it might be worth trying since it is just a can of spray paint.

  12. Susan,
I love your chair. I too am a Chair Junky! I did not buy any chairs for my dining room at my lake home. They have been stashed in the garage for the future. My Hubby hated me collecting chairs but he does not mind now. It was great on our budget

    1. Thank you! I think every husband gives us collectors (fancy word for hoarder) a hard time until they see the money we save them.
