Secondhand Scores #15

When I was a kid my parents went to garage sales all the time.  I admit I was totally embarrassed by it.  I never really bothered going regularly until after I had my son.  I realized I could get clothes and toys and things for him for pennies on the dollar and that is when my love for secondhand was born.

Garage sales are my favorite but I also go to flea markets, thrift stores and auctions.  I am always on the hunt for furniture to paint, stuff for myself, my house, my kids and unique items that I could put to future use.  I love the thrill of finding something that was once very expensive for as little money as possible.

In this series, I will share my scores to show you how much you could get for your hard earned money.  Some days I hit jackpots, some days I get nothing, but I always have fun.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I literally just told my husband I am not going to buy anymore furniture until I paint every piece in my stash, but I stumbled upon these tables at a garage sale on Friday...
She was only asking $5 a table!  How could I pass them up?  I stood there staring at them thinking about how I was going to justify bringing them home.  I was about to force myself to leave without them when the woman said if I wanted the tables I can have all three for $10!  I would have regretted it every day for the rest of my life if I did not buy them!  Or at least that is what I told my husband--ha!

The next sale over was selling plants for $2 a bundle.
I got two bunches each of Cone Flowers, Black Eyed Susans and purple Irises. Can you believe I paid more for the flowers than the tables?

On Sunday I went to an auction that also has a flea market in the same location.  The auction started at 1 pm and so the flea market was just finishing up.  One of the vendors was giving stuff away that he didn't want to pack up.
I got a set of measuring spoons and three embroidery hoops (I will remove their 80's crafty treatment).
At the auction, I got this large framed art for $1.  I will most likely turn it into a chalkboard.
